For more than 100 years, the BC Lung Association has been working to save lives by promoting lung health and preventing lung disease.
It all began with a historic campaign to stamp out tuberculosis.
A century later, we continue our fight to end lung disease, targeting new and evolving threats to lung health, and serving as a guardian of British Columbian’s right to healthy air.
To this end, every year we grant close to a million dollars in support of vital lung health research.
This year we are proud to announce five additional grant commitments totaling a million dollars to BC respiratory health leaders, including the UBC Respiratory Division & Lung Centre, the BC Centre for Disease Control and the Canadian Respiratory Research Network.
We are enormously grateful to our donors whose support makes these donations possible.
- Lung attacks the #1 reason for adult hospital emergency admissions.
- Lung disease is the only leading cause of death still on the rise.
- 1 in every 5 British Columbians suffers from asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, sleep apnea, or another lung ailment.
- More people will die this year from lung cancer than any other type of cancer, including breast, prostate and colon cancer combined.
